REFLECTION

The illustration this time is a great challenge for me, because I have never tried this style before, and I also encountered many difficulties in the process. I solved the difficulties through Dr. Jinchi's guidance and my efforts. I am very grateful for this experience.

FINAL REPLECTION

  • What have I learned in this module?
In the first few weeks of study, we systematically learned the basic principles of design and designed our own works according to different design principles. When I look at other people's work, I can use the design principles I've learned to analyze the work, which is very interesting.
  • What did I enjoyed the most?
What I enjoy most is being able to use my mind when I'm working on my design principles. It feels really good to use what you've learned to create something unique on a blank piece of paper.
  • What did I not enjoyed the most?
It must have been near the deadline for submitting homework, but I didn't have any idea. I was afraid that I could not submit the work in time, but I did not want to reduce the quality of the work, so I had to stay up late, which was very frustrating.
  • What have I learnt about myself through this module?
I have learned that although I am not a person with a lot of reserve of design thinking in terms of design, most of the time I have no content in my mind and will get stuck in my thinking. I often need to refer to other people's works to inspire my own creation. But I believe that time will make me become an excellent designer.
  • What has changed and what has not in my learning journey?
I think my way of thinking has changed. From the beginning, WHEN I saw a good work, I only commented that it was beautiful and spectacular, to now I can analyze what principles a good work applies with professional knowledge of design principles. And learning from other people's examples of how to apply design principles properly. What has not changed is the love of design.
  • What could be improved in this module?
I have no opinion on the course arrangement, and the process is very reasonable, which is well reflected in the final work. Dr. Jinchi guided us step by step and set goals for each week, so we finished the final work easily and efficiently. For others, I think we are not familiar with online courses due to the impact of COVID-19. When I don't understand some courses, I don't even have familiar students to ask, and this problem will be solved well in the next semester.

Final Outcome Quantify & Visualize:12/01/2023 / Week 1-Week 3 Song Yang / 0355576 Information Design / Bachelor of Creative Media / Taylor's University INSTRUCTIONS  EXERCISE 1 Quantify & Visualize data  We are required to quantify our chosen items and arrange the objects into a presentable layout or chart. I decided to use coins for this exercise.  Fig. 1.1 – Instructions for Exercise 1 I collected data on coins around the house as informational posters  Fig. 1.2 – Data (box of coins)  Final Outcome Quantify & Visualize: Fig 1.3 - Final Exercise 1: Quantify Data   EXERCISE 2 L.A.T.C.H (Location / Alphabet / Time / Category / Hierarchy) For Exercise 2, we are going to organize a group of information into a visual poster that combined and utilizes the LATCH principles. I decided to go with Pokémon's Pokédex, following the link provided in the slides.  Fig. 2.1 - Instructions for exercise 2 For Exercise 2, we are going to organize a gro...

Information Design - Project 1

26.1.2023 - 23.2.2023 (Week 3 - Week 7) Song Yang (0355576) Bachelor of Design (Hons) in Creative Media  Information Design Instructable Infographic poster & Motion graphic INSTRUCTIONS For this project, we were assigned to create a teachable poster infographic and an animated infographic video from a video recipe, explaining how to cook/bake our chosen dishes from the Pasta Grandma YouTube channel. I started this project by binge-watching multiple videos from the pasta Granny and decided to make this video on how to make flake bread. Flatbread is found all over Italy, and Enrica shares her recipe for "crostoli" (it's plural and singular is crostolo) here. Lard is a key ingredient, and the way it's made makes delicious pancakes.
