REFLECTION

Experience: After ploughing through Typography in the previous semester, I had to mentally prepare myself for Advanced Typography in this semester because I thought it was going to be way more difficult. Maybe because I was still new at that time, but Advanced Typography is really not that bad. The tasks were overall quite enjoyable as we could explore and work on what we like. The only thing that was hard to manage was of course the time. We had quite a lot of exercises and tasks to do, and by the time I completed Task 3, I thought our Typographic Systems was an exercise from the previous semester. Overall, I find that I am able to work much faster now compared to the previous semester and I am getting better at using Adobe softwares and Fontlab.

Observation: I observed that I tend to struggle with executing my ideas. Sometimes I have the idea in my head, but my lack of skills and knowledge makes it difficult for me to carry it out. With that being said, there are times where I will have to find a backup plan or go with a simpler option that I know I can handle by myself. Although all of the rethinking and brainstorming takes time, I am glad that I was able to push through and finish my tasks on time without much hurdles.

Finding:While working on Task 2 and Task 3, it was my first time getting exposed to branding and collaterals. I really enjoyed working on the key art in Task 2 since it was something more personal that represents our own identity. For Task 3, I also really liked making the posters and doodling on them. It made me feel like a kid again, scribbling and doodling whatever we can imagine on the letters. It feels nice seeing my typeface being generated and used in posters and t-shirts.

Information Design - Project 1

26.1.2023 - 23.2.2023 (Week 3 - Week 7) Song Yang (0355576) Bachelor of Design (Hons) in Creative Media  Information Design Instructable Infographic poster & Motion graphic INSTRUCTIONS For this project, we were assigned to create a teachable poster infographic and an animated infographic video from a video recipe, explaining how to cook/bake our chosen dishes from the Pasta Grandma YouTube channel. I started this project by binge-watching multiple videos from the pasta Granny and decided to make this video on how to make flake bread. Flatbread is found all over Italy, and Enrica shares her recipe for "crostoli" (it's plural and singular is crostolo) here. Lard is a key ingredient, and the way it's made makes delicious pancakes.
